Daylight Savings Time begins at 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, March 14.. While we’re springing forward and losing an hour, we have longer days ahead with more time to soak up the sun.

In honor of Daylight Savings Time, we’re bringing you a list of our favorite time travel movies. You could travel back in time to see our 8 favorite movies with time travel from 2016, but we have even more time travel movies to watch for you now!

Time Travel Movies: Back to the Future

Let’s start this list with a bang! Back to the Future is one of the most iconic time travel movies of all time. Michael J. Fox plays Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd plays Dr. Emmett Brown. This duo takes us back to the ’50s when an experiment goes wrong.

We loved the “plot” too 😉

Time Travel Movies: The Time Traveler’s Wife

Based on a book with the same title, The Time Traveler’s Wife tells the story of Henry De Tamble (played by Eric Bana) who suffers from a rare genetic disorder that causes him to drift back and forth through time. During his journey, he meets and marries Claire (played by Rachel McAdams), and has to navigate through the trials of time.

Time Travel Movies: Deadpool 2

Ryan Reynolds had us rolling with the cheeky, but action-filled, superhero movie that is Deadpool, and did NOT disappoint with the sequel, Deadpool 2. The sequel features the character Cable (played by Josh Brolin) who obtains a time travel device, hence this movie being included in our list. Also, who doesn’t love Ryan Reynolds?!

Where To Watch Deadpool 2: Hulu

Deadpool 2 Quote: “People think they understand pain. They have no concept of it beyond their own worst experience.”

We concur.

Time Travel Movies: About Time

Rachel McAdams is at it again with another time travel movie. This time her co-star is Domhnall Gleeson, who plays Tim Lake. Tim’s father tells him the secret that the men in his family can travel through time.

Always in the mood to rewatch

Time Travel Movies: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

This Harry Potter film made our list because of Hermoine’s (played by Emma Watson) use of the Time-Turner. This necklace gave her the ability to attend more classes than time would allow. We love a smart queen!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Quote: “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

Ours too!

Time Travel Movies: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Honorary mention is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, because although Brad Pitt’s character is not technically time traveling, he is aging backwards, which has to count for something.

We all need a cathartic cry sometimes.

Time Travel Movies: A Wrinkle in Time

One more honorary mention is this Disney movie directed by Ava DuVernay, the first-ever Black woman to direct a movie with a $100 million-plus budget (a milestone we celebrated in this post about the incredible women of Hollywood). Based on a 1962 book of the same name, this sci-fi adventure film follows a young girl (played by Storm Reid) as she travels through space to find her missing father. Mindy Kaling, Oprah, and Reese Witherspoon star in this space travel movie that challenges our perception of the universe, including time.
