REUTERS: Barcelona forwards Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann have apologised for a 2019 movie appearing to mock lodge staff members in Japan but denied their reviews had been racist.

The movie, recorded by Dembele for the duration of Barcelona’s pre-year tour of Japan ahead of the 2019-20 time, was leaked on social media and showed each players laughing at a group of resort personnel who ended up doing the job to take care of a tv.

“It all took put in Japan. It could’ve taken put any where on the world and I would’ve applied the same expression,” Dembele wrote on Instagram on Monday.

“I was thus not focusing on any group. I just took place to use this style of expression with my pals regardless of their origins.

“This movie has since been built general public. I recognize therefore that it could’ve hurt the people present in these illustrations or photos. Due to the fact of this, I would like to sincerely apologise to them.”

Griezmann mentioned he was “completely in opposition to all types of discrimination”.

“For the past few days, specified men and women have wished to paint me as somebody that I am not,” he said on Twitter. “I firmly refute the accusations produced from me and I am sorry if I have offended any of my Japanese friends.”

The pair just lately highlighted for France at Euro 2020, where by the world champions ended up knocked out by Switzerland in the round of 16 after a shootout.
